O Clube das Mulheres
de Negócios

IDENTITY / ILLUSTRATION

O Clube das Mulheres de Negócios (The Women's Business Club) is set in a world where gender stereotypes are inverted, placing women in powerful roles typically occupied by men, while men adopt more submissive social positions. The narrative follows Jongo (Luís Miranda), a seasoned photographer, and his journalist friend Candinho (Rafa Vitti) as they arrive at a São Paulo country club. The club, managed by Cesárea (Cristina Pereira) and her star employee Brasília (Louise Cardoso), is a hub where half the women have ties to law and justice, setting the stage for a series of revelations that challenge Candinho’s views on friendship and identity. The film tackles pressing issues beyond sexism, addressing racism, classism, and corruption deeply rooted in Brazil's patriarchal culture.

I was invited by GLAZ to develop the film’s visual identity, including the logo and title design, a unique opportunity to create a dynamic title sequence. With the film’s gender-reversal theme, I crafted a typographic landscape that mirrors the oscillation between dominance and vulnerability, rationality and emotion.

For the closing sequence, I developed an autonomous animated narrative that celebrates the team while inviting viewers to revisit the film’s layers of social critique. Though the official poster is commercially oriented, showcasing the star-studded cast, I took the liberty of proposing an alternate, visually striking design to honor this pivotal piece.

Collaborating with director Anna Muylaert was a true privilege; her openness allowed me full creative freedom, making this project both professionally and personally rewarding.

“‘The Business Women’s Club’ is a film about the nature of power. Inner and outer power. Actors and actresses are living reversed gender roles, so that we can see the gender’s absurdities all the better. Full of dark humor and with a fast pace, the film pictures this violent patriarchal order as if it was living its last moments…”
